Ohh he is cute! I love his color! What do you shave him for? And why not the legs, and shoulder blades? He looks like the sam color as my horse when he's shaved, She's a Grulla!

I body clipped him every fall after moving to Oregon because he would grow a long thick heavy coat - and working him in rainy and cold Oregon fall, winter and spring, he just wouldn't dry and would get really itchy unless I rinsed him all the way off. So I started doing the full body shave except the shoulder points (cushioning for the blankets), and left the legs and his head/ears with full protection so he could still be turned out in all weather, blanketed. With the body clip it was very easy to do a quick spray for the sweat, wipe off with a towel, put the cooler on for a few minutes, then blanket. The couple times I did every last square inch you'd never know he was a red bay color... the first time he was shaved it was a shock!

That is a good idea, so you don't have to worry about sweating while on a ride! That is genuine! I don think I would do this for my horse, but Still genius!

Most of my riding time was after work in the late evening- usually rainy, around 40 degrees, give or take, so NOTHING dries. Even if it was just an arena turnout night, he LOVED to run - mind you, he was outside all day, not in a stall, but he saved his moves for the arena and would stop when he darn well felt like it. For other horses, I did a modified trace clip - the underside of the neck, flank/girth area which helped a lot, but his coat was just too thick so I gave up and shaved it all.

Me and my horse Misty LOVE to run too, We race cars on this field stretch by the road! Our top speed is 38+ mile an hour!
