Calling all my horsey-friends! Fly sheets in the warmer climates-help!

I had made a all over fly sheet for horse back ridding. I sent the idea to a very well known company per their request... (that now carries a similar version wouldn't ya know....) and they pretty much took the idea, changed a few things that made it less affective, and marketed for their company...............

You really have to look around and see what fly sheets work best and hold up. Mine have gone through a few seasons and are still going.

i don't know what i'd do if spray didn't work for ticks....... I think guineas would be an option then.

When I had horses, I used fly spray, an automatic fly mister and a mask. I also used golden marlin bait and those stinky hanging traps. I can't stand flies! Can you tell?
I also used lime on the manure pile.
My husbands cousin used a feed thru flycontrol-I was not comfortable with that.

We used the Spalding fly predators last year - not totally unsuccessful...but pretty expensive. Also, the chickens ate a lot of them (though they take that into consideration when you order them).

Fly spray - my first lne of defense! As per vets recommendation, I use Absorbine Duragaurd & add additional Permethrin (different from Pytherine)...this is the most potent active ingredient in all fly sprays. But, wow, I spent at least $50 per month - just on Siggy - to keep him comfortable.

Misters in the stalls - these were a BIG help last year. I will be using them again this year.

The fly sheet is what I'm adding for this year (and a new mask). He may end up looking like an alien, but I'm hoping he'll be comfortable!

Here's what I've ordered, so far:

Mask - I like how much coverage it offers & halter/bridle can go right over it:

And, because we always want to look our best - matching fly sheet by Kensington from www.smartpak.com :

Just kidding about the matching - they had really good reviews, so I'm going to give it a try. You can order a belly protector, too...so if this looks like it will work, I'll order it as well.

I will keep everyone posted, but am still interested in more input if anyone has more to offer

No matter how much you know, there's more to learn!
