VERY nice!! Do you know the weight of these birds in pounds? Wouldn't mind having a couple of those myself!

roo's can vary between 5kg(11lbs) and 6kg(13.2lbs), hens between 4 (8.8lbs)and 5.5kg (12.1lbs)

really heavy meaty birds, but soft and gentle too. they dont fly either which is always good! they come in cuckoo colours, white, blue and columbia (and also silver and gold necked)
and another plus point they are pretty good layers (160 eggs average per year)

Sigh! The great variety and quality of the European birds always makes me drool! I wish there was a way to get some of your Faverolles over here. One of our long-time breeders has been to England and said we can't even compare to what they've got.

Those weights are about the same as the Jersey Giants! My kind of bird!

ha ha ha i have the same problem...i drool over the chickens from america/australia/UK...especially the differences between araucanas!

right eggs are in......fingers are crossed.....roll on the next 21 days!!!!

But the grass is always greener on the other side.

Someone had a cute avatar pic with 2 chickens on opposite sides of the road poking fun at it.
If I could get chickies at reasonable cost from UK & Europe that would be so cool.
Love getting the Pratical Poultry mag from UK. The current one has a nice article on the Scots Dumpy.
A chicken that has short legs like a wiener dog! How cool is that!

never heard of that magazine but will look out for it!

ok already ran into another problem.

one of the eggs keeps on rolling out of the tray (when the cradle turns to its farest point before rolling back, the egg pops out and rolls across the other eggs...somethings gonna get broken!)

can i safely take the lid off to rearrange the eggs (thats gonna be a good ten minutes) at this stage in incubating (theyve been in for about quarter of a day!)
