Calling All New Brinsea Owners!!! February Hatch-a-long... PRIZES!!!

Well.....10 of my 13 have hatched.

I wonder if the last three are simply not going to hatch. One has pipped but not progressed since early afternoon...and I don't think I see signs of life. Tomorrow is day 21, so I guess I still have a little bit of hope...

7 total hatched out so far this week. All are the from the 8 local eggs I bought. 1 local egg never developed.

The last shipped egg is still in the bator and I expect it to hatch by Friday. It is the only shipped egg that developed out of the 13 that came. The sad part is that it is a mixed egg added for fun (Ameracauna x Wyandotte) sure hope it is a girl. None of the pure wyandotte eggs that I wanted developed.

I need to force myself to wait till winter is over before ordering anymore shipped eggs. This winter has been rough with shipments due to delays caused by these crazy winter storms.

I just found this thread and I'm so glad I did! I have 19 eggs in my Octagon 20 due in just over a week. I'm glad to see others are using the carton method in the Brinsea - I thought about it last time and wasn't sure they'd fit with the carton. I had several fully developed chicks not hatch last time - I think all the knocking around did them in, so I really wanted to try the carton this time.

I'll take pictures when we having something besides eggs to look at!

Hey everyone. Still silently watching this... the folks on Mahonri's new thread are persuading me to join in if I can get that bator... maybe I can join here, too, next month.

I've added 3 more to the list, so we are up to 50 people playing along!
Love seeing all the pictures!
and, umm, on the second day of incuabation, the watching is rather dull. Maybe tomorrow they will start rocking or something!

I love the Brinsea. This is my first hatch with it and I am sold on it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good first bator.
I went ahead and bought the auto turner to go with the Brinsea Eco 20 as I work.

Here is another cute picture of the babies. I finally figured out how to cut alot of the red out from the brooder pictures.

Well, this morning 11 of the 13 are alive and well and they make my Brinsea look like popcorn is popping inside!

Of the two that didn't hatch, one didn't have even a pip (leaving it in until tomorrow, just to be sure), and the other had zipped all the way around (through the shell and the membrane, but failed to break out. *shrug* I don't know what happened, but when I popped the top off, the chick was already doa. Poor thing!

So 11 out of 13 for the first hatch isn't too bad. I'm off to take them to the barn (where the brooder is) and will post an update tonight....and maybe a few pictures!

Now, I'm waitin for my Mini-Advanced to hatch (due on Feb. 18)!

I'm just guessing but alot of folks just got their bator at the end of January. Thanks, for keeping a list. Maybe, we should send it to Brinsea after all they donated a prize.
