Calling All New Brinsea Owners!!! February Hatch-a-long... PRIZES!!!

OK, I fired up my new Eco 20 last night. I had to adjust the temp slightly this morning as it was a tad over 101. I also bought the Brinsea On the Spot thermometer, and I think we are good now. I still would like to collect 1 or 2 more eggs but I am dying to start!! ACK!!!

Question though. I have not put water in it yet and wanted to ask what most of you are doing. With my LG, I used the dry method. How much water are you putting in? I think I read that you fill both channels half way? Or I think that is what Brinsea recommends. But what are you all doing? Any Brinsea Old Timers here? I'd love your input. Thanks!!!

I have the Spot-on thermometer. I had a love/hate relationship with it until I put it in a water wiggler...it's a VERY sensative thermometer!

Here is how it looked in my set-up:

This was my first hatch, so I don't have a wealth of experience, but I'll share what I did as far as humidity is concerned.

First off, our humidity in Florida over the last few weeks has been 40%-50% and we haven't had to run our heat or air-conditioner very much....so I haven't had to fight dry air very much. I kept both wells filled with water and had something like sponges in the well to increase the surface area for evaporation. I used the humidity valve to adjust the humidity up or down. For day 18, I added sponges all around the water wells....kept the humidtiy at 65%.

So, for what it's worth, that's what I did.

i have 13 eggs in my brinsea eco that are due to hatch on the 21st. australorps, cubalayas, and a few mixes. my delaware eggs will be here on the 23rd and will probably add some australorps to fill up the incubator. i only fill one water channel about half full for the first 18 days.
