I cut a sponge in half and put 1 half between the tray and channels. I mainly being refilling only 1 channel and redampening the sponge half as needed. This gave me more wet surface and the humidity as being staying in the 40% ranges longer.
I wait till the water evaporates down to low 30% range before refilling and dampening the sponge half.

On lock down I will fill both channels and put in the other half of the sponge to increase the humidity.

I bought the Humidity modifier from Brinsea that works with the oct 20 self turner and it was like majic with Marans eggs, I keep the humidity at 53% and my hatches were dramatically improved.

This is so exciting! I haven't had much time to be catching up here lately but will be watching! I might have to postpone my hatch until May.

My brinsea had a crack in the plastic bubble so I called them immediately and they shipped out a new one the same day. I returned the broken one in its original packaging. No problems at all getting a replacement.

So, last night one of my eggs had pipped internally, I could hear talking. Sooo excited. Sit on my hands. Leave them alone. Finally get to sleep, really, really late. Wake up to this, you have to look very close - tiny little pip to the left of the pencil marks:

So, knowing how long this might be, and that I should leave them alone, keep sitting on my hands, go keep busy elsewhere, I go downstairs to make a cup of coffee. 10 minutes? I decide I have to just look - won't touch. Go upstairs and this is what I find:

What happened to the zip? It was like a chick explosion!
