haha that happened to me with my first batch of cochins! i was waiting up ALL NIGHT for one to zip. i went to the bathroom... was out of the room for 3 minutes tops and when i got back he was out of the shell!!!!! I was so mad!!!!! Kept me all night with his peeping and wouldn't even let me watch the hatch!!!

Finally got mine in today...7 beautiful BJG's. Do I have to move to the February Hatch-a-long? My due date is Feb 11 or thereabouts.

I finally got my Brinsea Mini Advanced today. I don't see any damage..I'm going to turn it on tomorrow and check w/ it. I've already ordered some Serama eggs from a lady.

Just went into my first lockdown today with 24 eggs. I started with 32 but I broke one w/ the lid and most were shipped so I think that's pretty good if they are still all alive in there! I saw a claw in a banty eggs, it was the most amazing thing I had ever seen. Wow, mother nature makes it look simple.

11 Lavender Wheaten Ameraucana Project eggs (too thick to see through)
13 Lavender/Split Lavender eggs (shipped)
4 White Ameraucana

I am trying out a new method of upping the humidity. I usually use a sponge but since I have extra eggs and no sponge space I am using a rag to wick. Hopefully all goes well.

Here is my hatching set up. I put them in egg cartons with the bottoms cut out. Between the two cartons I have a piece of plastic craft canvas. This is so I can keep track of the split lavs that will hatch and the project eggs chickies. The top is just bent over with the weight of the lid.

Once some hatch and dry I will rotated the eggs on top into the carton and pull those chicks out.

Juat started lockdown

candled them and it looks like about 5 clear out of 21. Honestly, I just want at least 2 to hatch, so that i dont have to constantly babysit. Working on getting humidity up. wish me luck
