Calling all Penedesencas Owners/Breeders

I'm taking a trip to New York in October!

Are there any Pene breeders up North that will have eggs or chicks?

I have a few Black Penedesencas. I've been trying to hatch more. I've had a low hatch rate. Is anyone else experiencing this. Just to double check what are you here running your temp.,and humidity. Even using a Broodie they haven't done well.

Love the birds,and their beautiful eggs,but trying to build a flock is a little frustrating. The eggs are making it till about the last 5-7 days before hatch. I'am puzzled. ?????

I am in Ohio, where did your Black Penedesencas come from? I have Black Hens that came from West Virginia.

I think I've decided that I'm ready to make the Penedesenca plunge and buy some eggs in January. I think I like the wheaten the most. Is there anyone in particular that sells/ships eggs?

I also had heat related questions as I read these birds tolerate heat well. Has anyone noticed a notable tolerance difference between these and other breeds?

They both look like little boys to me. Wait a couple more weeks, if you start to see solid black feathers coming in... they're cockerels for sure.
