Hi all,

So I have two Lionhead Dwarf rabbits, and today I noticed a patch of what looks like eczema (I know, I have it on my hands) on Simba, our boy. It’s on his upper back just below his neck.
He’s about 5 years old, he’s been fixed, and their generally healthy except for the fact that they both have malocclusion (we have their teeth clipped by a local veterinarian when they get too long).

They get plenty of hay and a reasonable portion of pellets. Does he have some kind of disease??

Yes, he is with another rabbit, but they have been together since we got them and he’s never had this problem before. Also the skin looks a little flaky, kind of like he has dandruff.

Looks kinda like a skin allergy rash. Could the bite looking marks be from him scratching and biting himself?
Maybe, but I don’t see him scratching a lot. As a matter of fact, Maggie does most of his grooming for him. I see her cleaning him all the time. She does grunt and nudge at him when she wants him to move, but I just thought that was normal.

I know it’s not the cat, because we have the cage up high and he won’t try to get at it. He only tries to mess with them when we put their cage on the ground to change it, and even then we make sure he doesn’t hurt them.

If you do think it’s a rash, should I take him to the vet? I want to try to get rid of it before it gets too serious. I would also hate for it to spread to the other rabbits.

How old are they? Many rabbits do not get along. When dominating each other one pushes the other to the ground, bites around the neck would probably occur. I would separate them.

They are both going on 6 years old. They’ve always got along great though. I guess I’m gonna have to watch them more closely and make sure Maggie’s not being mean. They mostly just lay around during the day lol
