Does anyone else have a picky eater? Hazel still isn't eating hay, even though I cut back on the greens and pellets. He does eat SOME but mostly started chewing on other things he shouldn't... Like the window trim. He won't eat things I thought he would like zucchini, bell peppers, marigolds. He pretty much sticks to greens. He does like apples and a small carrot ON OCCASION.

Maybe he doesn't like the brand of hay you're feeding him? Have you tried giving him something else?

I bought the Kaytee brand when we first got him and he ate it just fine. Then I switched to Dumor brand and he wouldn't eat it. I switched back to Kaytee and he picks at it ONLY when I refuse to give him anything else. I feel bad because he scarfs down the pellets like he's starving to death so I know he's hungry.... I just don't understand why he is refusing the hay.

What kind of hay is it? Not the brand, but the blend. Is it orchard grass, timothy, alfalfa?

It's timothy

I do have a bale of alfalfa in the barn for the horses. I could try to grab some of that and see if he'll eat it?

Alfalfa should be given as a treat. So not all the time. Try orchard grass and see if he likes it.

I ordered the hay from Chewy that someone recommended. I figured it was worth a try... If that doesn't work, I can switch to orchard grass. The good thing is that anything he won't eat, the goats will....
