Calling All Rabbit Nutters

...

...
You do know that rabbits are not ruminants, right?
They have a lot in common though!
Ruminants chew and their food goes to the second stomach before coming back up and being chewed a second time and then going through all four stomachs. Their food kinda gets digested twice.

Rabbits eat their food and then (usually the middle of the night) the poop part of it out and eat it. They can be one of the most food efficient animals on the planet because they take so much nutrients from their food, by digesting it twice. They don't get certain vitamins from their diet so their bodies manufacture it and they consume it in that poop.

Vets add up even faster. I hope he'll be okay. :hugs
Yeah, the original bill was supposed to be over $600, but I managed to get it down. She wanted to charge me nearly $300 for an x-ray alone! But, we managed to find a different way to get a diagnosis without the x-ray.
She'll be okay though. We're still not 100% certain what she has, because there are two things that have very similar symptoms, and it's hard to pinpoint exactly which of the two it is. But, right now, we're treating for one, and testing for the other. She seems to be doing better today though, so I think we're actually treating for the the right one.

What are you guys treating for?

What happened?
She has one of two things (we're not sure which of the two). One causes the liver to enlarge, and the other is an avian yeast which causes the stomach to enlarge. Both are super common in budgies. Right now, we're treating for the liver, and testing for the yeast. Given how she is doing today though, I think it's the liver.

How did you notice to begin with?
Did her little belly area look swollen?
