Great rabbit care advice given already! I'm also all for indoor housing. I have a website about housing rabbits indoors (no ads & no selling). Is it permissible to post it here?
I'd post it if I were you.

We are rabbit nazi's...you have been warned.

Cages are not real.
Most cages sold for rabbits sould be used for hamsters.

Are you handy with a little bit of wood, screws and some hardware cloth?

Two cages may be fine if you take them out daily.
Thanks for the warning lol, I'll post their current set up for suggestions and silently lurk the rest of the way 😉

Their hutch is 3ft by 5.5ft
Again this can be made one but they are happily hopping around with plenty of room in one for now

Thanks so much for a the info!
They are both female
And outside full time in an elevated hutch is the plan, the tractor is for play time with their two minor owners and to get out of the hutch every day. They will be supervised during that time.

I did not know you could litter train a bunny!

Currently they have a two cage hutch, they both were together when we got them, so just left them together.

What is the recommended space for a bunny?? We have the ability to make the 2 cages one or leave them as is...ill have to actually measure the hutch to gave precise measurements.

The hutch was a gift, (homemade from when the person had rabbits yrs ago) and I realize likely a good starting point but perhaps not all the way "there"

Thanks so much for your advice and insight!
Yes, litter training is quite easy. Just be sure to provide lots of fresh hay in it. You may have noticed them "going" in one corner, so that would be the ideal spot for the box. Clean and deodorize any pee outside the box, and put any poop into the box.
Litter training makes it easy to house them indoors and keep their enclosure clean.

Hutches and cages, especially ones sold at pet stores, are simply much too small for a rabbits needs. They also need plenty of space for play time. Like cats and dogs, they can be free roamed indoors and do much better with all the space. Keeping them in a small enclosure can cause the rabbits to become overweight, cage aggressive, and have pent up energy. It's a lot like keeping a puppy in a kennel all the time.

While two story hutches may seem to give them more room, they really need floor space to play. Being prey animals, they don't particularly like being up high. So one big open space is much preferred.

A better enclosure option would be a dog playpen or C&C grids. These provide space for all their toys, hidey houses, a litter box, and still leaves room for exercise.

The House Rabbit Society recommends at least 8sqft per rabbit, with 24sqft of additional exercise space.
Really, the more space the better.

I'd cut the middle wall out and combine them tomorrow.

I'd not use bedding at all in those cages.
I'd add a little box with the food in it in one of the cages.

I'd also build /buy at least one more cage to connect to it OR...
I'd use those two cages for quail and build a new bigger cage the the buns.

I bought this in January.
I STILL haven't used it all.
I only have one bunny but I think if I had two I would still have some hay left.
25 dollars compared to the dumb 10 dollar plus tiny bags I was buying weekly.

I put it in a large black trash bag before I cut it open.
