Calling all Silkie people. Please help evaluate my young silkie roo? Update page 5

I am still learning. I didnt know the skin color varied I thought some people called the skin blue and others just called it black but it was really the same color. I need to check that out on mine I know it has the dark skin like a silkie but thats the kinda stuff I need to know. Thank u. is there other things I need to look for also? Should I take and post pics of just the feet. No toes r fused or crooked and they all seem to b spaced far apart.

I guess I could kind of see a roo coming out of that. Just an early bloomer crowing wise maybe

Its been awhile since I have shown chickens !! Mine was young around 7 mos when I showed her. I got a blue ribbon!! Look up website 4-H for chickens. Hope you will find one in your area..

Okay so the black one was crowing for the first time today so now they r both trying to out crow each other or trying to get in the last crow lol

I'm going to say roo if it's crowing. I've got some with huge crests and I was sure they were pullets because of that, but the crowing is spreading

It can not just be some freak thing that all of these are pullets that crow. After handling the ones crowing and the ones not crowing you can feel a difference in the legs the roos have thick legs and the pullets have thinner legs. Combs are not coming in on all the crowing ones yet, but I'm 95% sure they are little roos.

Yeah I have raised hundreds of chickens since I was a kid and I have heard of this but have never had a hen crow and personaly the only hens I have seen do it on other farms were gamefowl. I think this is a lot rarer then some would have us believe. Im still inclined to think both mine r roos. Its not a crazy noise they r makeing but a cock-a-doodle-doo that still needs some work and practice lol
