calling all wild bird feeders!!

Pics
Since snow storm 'Jonas' (why did they start naming snow storms?) I have been watching a different sort of 'bird feeder'. There's a road killed deer in the hedge row across the road. The turkey buzzards and the crows have been peacefully feasting on it. Today I was looking out the window when a red tail came bombing in talons outstretched. Buzzards and crows scattered in every direction. Guess I can figure out who is boss. Several years ago there was a road killed deer in the field to the West of our house. A bald eagle discovered it and guarded the carcass for several weeks. Either sitting on the carcass or in a tree close by. Nothing else dared to feed.

I have some "good" birds back!

I have been feeding junk birds most of the winter, Finally I have gold finches back... I had 7 yesterday at one time.

I am still getting junk birds, you know the common ones. Lets be honest we feed to get the pretty and rare ones!

I have been getting a cardinal for a few weeks, so maybe spring is coming, in 3-4 more months!

There are no junk birds! Well, maybe cowbirds and starlings qualify.

Snowbirds (junco's) are very unwelcome this time of year!!

By junk I meant the run of mill ones. Chickadees ( and we know what they do). Nuthatches white and red.

Of course I get the woodpeckers but they are a higher level common bird. I like their looks..

You don't like juncos and nuthatches and demented chickadees?

Please accept my most humble apologies for bringing up the fact you live in the frozen north and won't see spring until about a day before October (or about 3 days before it snows again, whichever comes sooner). I am so sorry.

Did you find your prosaic?
