Its a good day at the feeder today, colder than well you know what...

BUT I had about a dozen gold finches this morning. One even sat on the wire right outside the window I hang hummingbird feeders from and stared in the house at me for 5 minutes or mere. I wanted to let him in, but my wife nixed that idea.


Then I had a cardinal back again. There bright red coat brings me joy on these cold days!

Besides them I have had the normal gang out there..




Edited to let everyone know I also had a red bellied woodpecker today. While not uncommon it has been a while since I had one here.

I am sitting here over dosing on caffeine and already the male cardinal has been here!

I have to try and remember to bring some BOSS from the chicken coop up here for the feeder for him. Do they like peanuts?

Not sure about the peanuts, but they love the BOSS. I feed a mixture of approximately 1 part wild bird mix to 3 parts BOSS. The birds love it.

I feed a suet and ground up peanut pellet in one feeder which seems to attract woodpeckers and chickadees

The usuals for me are
Black capped chickadees
Tufted titmice
nut hatches
downy and hairy woodpeckers
blue jays
house finches
gold finches
juncos
red bellied woodpecker
blue birds
and my favorite, the rose breasted nut hatch

Is the red breasted nut hatch the same as a rose breasted nut hatch?

My favorite has not been here this winter, the rose breasted grosbeak.

Suet blocks = starlings. Took them a while to get here. 2 or 3 starlings are fun. A whole flock - not so much fun.
