calling all wild bird feeders!!

I promise not to inundate this thread with pictures of Rainbow Lorikeets but this one I thought was worth sharing. This little one is a juvenile which mumma left in the tree while she had dinner. I thought he was a perfect photo opportunity and he obliged

This little guy is a newbie for me. I have never seen one before and had to Google to identify. He is a male Australasian Figbird. I was trying to get as close as possible and not really concentrating on the shot, just him. But if I say so myself, it turned out to be quite a good photo:

love it! Do you have a phone? There is an app, (forgot what it was called, "Cornell lab of Ornithology bird ID " i think) You can put in details about the bird and it will give you a list of birds near you, I'm not sure it there is an Australian one though, they are based in New York, it might just be a United States thing.

Working in IT I spend a lot of time on the computer, dual screens etc so Google is my friend. Picture of bird on one screen, Google search on the other

That is a Pileated Woodpecker. It is rare to see than at a feeder. I see them once or twice a year at the feeder is all. They are normally woods birds. I took down an old dead tree so maybe it thinks I owe it a meal now.

I think they are the largest woodpecker, but I could be full of Poop on that factoid.

Nice! I get those on a lot of trees here.But only see about 3 or 4 a year...
