calling all wild bird feeders!!

Pics
Good job on catching a photo of this one Ralphie!

All luck, I had to just point and click my phone at it. The picture was so dark, I had to lighten it several times to get any color at all...

They are so "flighty" any movement in the house scares them away... I love them though, I love their call, their size. They are one of our best birds,, in an area with limited birds.

I agree, great birds and so much fun to watch. Funny, they always remind me of Woody Woodpecker, remember him? Loved that guy!

I haven't seen any fancy birds so far, just the normal crows ravens.
And eagles stalking my chickens

That is a Pileated Woodpecker. It is rare to see than at a feeder. I see them once or twice a year at the feeder is all. They are normally woods birds. I took down an old dead tree so maybe it thinks I owe it a meal now.

I think they are the largest woodpecker, but I could be full of Poop on that factoid.

Thank You

He is very beautiful.

I was not sure if we have Woodpeckers here in Australia so I Googled it .. interesting: Woodpeckers can be found in wooded areas all over the world, except in Australia. With the weather we had this weekend, I do not blame them, not sure I wanted to be here myself

High temps, high humidity and tropical storms with hail and strong winds

That's interesting about the woodpeckers Teila. Sorry to hear about the tropical storms, hope you don't have any trouble with damage.

Thank you N F C no damage at our place but I do believe there was some in other areas including some empty, stacked shipping containers that the wind was strong enough to knock over and the Domino affect kicked in.

We saw the incoming storms on the radar and while we usually lock the girls back in the run if we have incoming storms, because we were outside and it did not look too bad on the radar, we left them out .. of course, it hailed! No one got bonked on the head or injured because we have ample places for them to seek cover but we didn’t take any chances on the next two storms, locking them in the covered run.

Three largish wild birds' nests were dislodged from our trees but I was pleased to see that they did not appear to have either eggs or chicks in them and were either old and forgotten or new and not used yet; which is still sad in that the poor things will have to start building again.

Okayyyyyy, but what about Sea Hunt, The Lone Ranger or Rifleman?

I never heard of Lloyd Bridges, Clayton Moore ( or that phony they had for one year) or Chuck Conners.

We did not have a TV until around 1960-62, So I only got to see them if I went to my Grandparents.

Before that the IH dealer in town had movies on Saturday afternoon about once a month. They were classics like Gene Autry, Frankenstein was shown about 3 times a year. MA and Pa Kettle. and stuff like that.
