another hatchery is Heartland in Amsterdam, MO. I've heard hatcheries are selling out of chicks. I checked Cackle and the few popular breeds I looked at, have sold out for April, May, and most of June. They only had 3 hatch dates in June and July you could still get Spitzhaubens and 2 of those days said 'low'.
I ordered an incubator and am going to to start some Spitzhauben eggs this week. I've been testing the incubator the last few days, and plan to start eggs Wed, after this cold snap. Since we heat w wood, it gets pretty cold inside, and I don't want to strain the motor, since the instructions say use in a "70º room"

You might check with the hatcheries Cackle and there's another one I forget their name in west Missouri.

Ok thanks. Will check them out.

Ok thanks. Will check them out. What incubator did you get? Good luck with your future hatch. I heat with wood also. Fired my incubators up about a month ago. Had my first turkey hatch yesterday

I ordered mine in the middle of March and Cackle was sold out till the end of April at that time. At Orscheln chicks are gone with an hour or two of arriving. I really feel sorry for the chicks as I assume many will not do well with inexperienced people.
