calling any one from missouri

@ChickenCanoe
I hadn’t thought about wattles and water. What do yours drink from? Good luck with your flock! (Everyone!)
After tonight’s lowest of all temps, we will get above zero tomorrow pm if they are correct. Even the lows are forecast above zero here, and 40’s and even 50’s coming by Sat thru the early week!

They are supposed to be drinking from horizontal nipples but I'm a dumb@** and didn't get set up in time so they drink out of one and two gallon founts.
I do have a heated nipple waterer that I'm going to put in one of the pens today. My big flock is free range. 11 birds in a chain link pen where I think I'll hang that nipple waterer.
I bought a waterer on legs for the 3+ month olds so that it won't stick to the platform when if freezes.
What WAS supposed to happen by now is circulated heated water delivered to horizontal nipples. It never helps to procrastinate when caring for animals.

Inside the RIR's run this afternoon... the wind has been blowing hard all day.

I fed and watered the chickens and rabbits and will give them more water this evening. One of the heated dog water bowls out in one of the coops is frozen solid. I’m guessing it isn’t working or is too exposed 🤷‍♀️.
The rabbits have a lot of hay to burrow into to stay warm and they can get up to an area the has solid sides on 3 sides and a solid roof. They seem to be doing alright.
The chickens I didn’t even let out today. They really didn’t seem to mind that either.
I did collect eggs when I took them out some oats and their regular feed. None (eggs) were frozen this time! Over the past few days I’ve gotten 6 frozen and cracked eggs. I thawed them out and then gave them back to the chickens.
It is still snowing here.
