calling any one from missouri

Karen, I was wondering about mine eating rock salt as well unless I could somehow enclose it. The cold is supposed to be back this weekend. I heard -2 on Sunday last night. WTG on 4 eggs! I had one and wondering if the EE's will lay today. Crazy roo, yes I still have him, was out there crowing @ 3am!!
School was cancelled today due to the extreme windchill temperatures. -16 to -20 F.
Hard to believe that it is suppose to be in the 50's this weekend!:idunno
I just been getting anywhere from 1 to 4 eggs from a total of 25 hens. I hope they pick up the pace when the days get longer.

I know how you feel! I have 10 in my kitchen. Still have a bit to do on their cage in the coop. One is already trying to crow. I don't think it's going to be an easy transition.
mine are just about 5 weeks old so it will be awhile. I have a place to put them when they are grown. I just wasnt prepared for chicks in winter. I was given them by a woman who couldnt keep them anymore and it all happened really fast. I got lucky, I figured they would be easter eggers or some kind of mix. Got 1 male and 1 female salmon faverolle (which are pretty much my favorite chickens ever), a la fleche(which I have never even heard of), and a welsummer pullet(my other favorite!) :)

Nice gift of unexpected chickens!!

My roo may finally be going to his new home this weekend if all works out well, no guarantees yet. . The man who is taking lives near Urich. I will miss him but know he will be going to a good new home. I'm hoping Steven likes him, he has only seen photos.

I live in west central mo.
I raise Turkey's, quail, and chickens as a hobby.

The cold weather we've had took out my breeder cream crusted legbar roo. Is there anyone that has any spare legbar roos they would be willing to sell. I have 8 hens that I would like to breed pure if I can.
