Eden this is peanut from warsaw just had a guineas attack by some dogs I put Neosporin on her they got her pretty bad has no feathers from about the middle of her back to her tail and some small tears but by her thigh and her back is a big tear, put her in a big dog kennel for now , she is in shock I'm sure is there any thing else I can do. we put food and water in with her, and keeping her in the garage. any help would be appreciated thanks

I've heard to keep the bird warm and hydrated (electrolytes in the water) is abut the best you can do. If no internal injuries, sounds like she should recover from the external wounds.

Electrolites, save-a-chick, always a good choice.
Other than lost feathers, is the flesh torn much?
If so, the topical may not be enough and secondary infection may occur.
Lizdeal might be able to give you guinea antibiotic dosage,
I've been impressed with her knowledge.
A byc search should also help come with it.

With injury, I'd be in here asking myself - and have.
Had a turkey polt scalped last year and was freaked.
Did the same as you have, seperation, topical, s-a-c, boiled eggs - and that purple kote spray before returning to comrades once out of shock
(keeps the others from picking at red wounds) .
It lives yet so they can heal and go on just fine sometimes.
I've also had some that were very damaged by attack I put an end to thier suffering.

Owls, coons, coyotes, foxes - busy, busy varmits!!!!! Lot of us are having problems now. Awful business. Sorry you're getting it too.
Has the attacking dog been dealt with? Any security issues that need to be addressed to prevent future injury?

Thanks so much on my way to orschlen to get the meds and the electrolytes. Did you mean the sac from a boiled egg and put it over the wound should I take of some of Neosporin before I spray thanksn for your help

She had gone across the road which they do a lot to the tall grass and the people really like them and like to watch them. Have had trouble with that dog before has chase our cows and had attacked our dog but once again our dog was on their property. They are always very sorry. don't like to get into it with them she has cancer and not in good health and neither is her husband .but they do just let their dog run loose all over the country, but living in the our neck of the woods not you can do . My daughter told me get a spray called vetericyn say it is really good said they watch a video of it and cuts the healing time in have. the hardest thing is trying to get her clam down but latter going to put in a cow watering tank with a screen on top so it will be easier on both of us thanks again for the help and will let you how well this spray works

SAC = save a chick - short hand. There is also another electrolyte pakt should be right with them. Load em up.

Hard boiled egg is easy to digest, appealing and loaded with good for them nutriants.

Handle as little as necessary, warm, dark and quiet - that will help with shock.
When they (hopefully) get active and eating good again, let the topical antibiotic soak in, give a good spray with the purple kote stuff and let them back out with the flock. Will be far less stressful for them. Couple days of the topicals while getting out of shock and the worst of it should be good enough. Good luck!

HI I could not find the purple kote stuff He has no feathers at all from his top of back to his tail. Will the other birds peck him with no feathers I have been putting the other stuff on him do you know where I get it orschlens did not have any. thanks again

yES, THEY WILL PECK. The whole point of the purple spray, besides being antiseptic is so they won't. Orschelins is where I got it. Back in thier medicine section - Think it's called Kote but tell them what it's for and ask them where it is - the y do carry it.
