calling any one from missouri

Wow, I can't believe that!! That's some serious lack of compassion on the part of the other TS employees.

We only want a small flock to start (between 4-6). I am wanting EE's and Wynadottes, preferably the gold laced variety. I've heard they're both good egg-layers and can withstand our weird weather patterns pretty well.

I know a breeder in Northern MO who is hatching Cream Leg Bars. If you would like their information, PM me and I will pass it on. I don't know if she is going to have any hatching eggs from them as she is just getting her line started but she is selling chicks this spring.

As for the TS, what irked me most of all is that the store wasn't busy and one of the two guys standing at the check out said, Yeah, I know, The person who takes care of that job isn't here. Guess I'll have to get back there and get them taken care of. It was around 11AM. I felt so sorry for the poor little dears and told my husband that if I wasn't brooding our own flock I would have bought all the survivors and taken them home. He pointed out that half of them looked sick so I was just a little afraid at that point given that our own chicks were only a few weeks old and healthy. I try to avoid going back there to this day.

actually if you have a pair I would love to just do that. I will be coming to Horsefest in March.

I wish spring would just hurry up and get here. I have an 11 month old Buff O hen that is just sure that she should be sitting on a bunch of eggs right now and I'm just as determined that she isn't until at least the first of next month. Bless her, this is the second time since the first of December that she has gone broody. I finally had to put her in my broody buster to get her over that spell. Today, I found her sitting stubbornly on four eggs, growling and giving me the stink eye as I fished them out from under her and pushed her off the nest. Once I get her off the nest she looks back at the empty box and gives me such a puzzled look. she just cannot understand why I keep taking her potential babies away from her. Aggie short for Aguilla (eagle) used to like to sit on top of their watering jar when she was a chick as if surveying all her 'underlings' and is such a sweet girl. I have no doubt she will be a wonderful mother once she gets the chance. But in the mean time, just like kids, they can sure lay such a guilt trip on you.

Anybody else having hens go broody on them?
