calling any one from missouri

@SueT sorry to hear that the poultry swap was distressful. I've never been to one. That's sad that the birds were being kept in such bad conditions.

Jeria, sorry to hear that your health has been slowing you down so much. Just take it easy and don't push yourself too hard. You have to take care of yourself first.

Our weather forecast is showing thunderstorms for Monday through Thursday.

Thanks Karen, I'm prone to bronchitis and pneumonia, so have been through this way too many times. Luckily no pneumonia this round. Just makes me mad when I have things I need/want to get done and my body won't let me.

Realized I need to change my assembly plan for sure last night, learning along this journey. Kept waking up during the night with solutions. Now to figure one out on paper that will work with the wall frames I have completed or nearly so.

Enjoy your holiday weekend.

Sue, curious, what is a call duck? Sorry the swap was so bad. Was it partly because of all the storms we have had?
Someone in this forum was looking for call ducks, which are a bantam breed, and I don't know much else about them. But I had recommended the swap and so I hoped no one went on my recommendation. Yes, maybe just because it was so muddy. On my previous trip, I enjoyed it, took pics, talked to people, etc.

Thank you! I didn't even know that was there. It doesn't look like they have calls though. I think I've found someone to help me out on that but still nice to know about the hatchery I'll have to go visit and check it out!
I've gotten all my chicks from Heartland Hatchery in Amsterdam, MO. They have ducks but I'm not sure if they're the breeds you're looking for, but I'm sure if you give him a call Alan would be able to point you in the right direction. They've been super helpful with any of my questions or concerns. Or the woman who owns Kearney Feed up in Kearney, MO has been super helpful as well and she knows her stuff. I drive up their to get my feed every month because of their service and quality of feed.

On a side note. I'll post them on a different thread as well but figured I'd offer up to Missouri people first. We've decided that we're only going to butcher one of our cockrels. The other two have been really docile with the pullets and would be good roosters. We would like to rehome them. If anyone knows of anyone looking for a rooster, please let me know.
I've got a sex link mix cockrel, he's been very gentle and quiet. He doesn't like to be handled much but calms down quickly once you pick him up.
Second is my Polish. He has beautiful coloring. He did get into a tussle when my hunting dog got loose when he was about 3 weeks old, only sign is he's missing half the feathers on his head. Other than that he's perfectly healthy.

Flock of Mischief, love your name. Where is it in Kearney? I'm up toward that way often as have a DD in between Holt and Lawson and do some shopping in Liberty. Would love somewhere that someone actually knows something about chickens instead of just TSC. Where are you located?

I'm in Grain Valley.
But Kearney Feed is just off of 35N, the first Kearney exit.

They are the only feed store that's close to me that offers Blair chicken feed.

Thanks. There is that big store in Blue Springs closer to you there on 7 just south of 70, but they certainly aren't very helpful and are very limited on chicken feed brands. I will stop in there in the near future.
