Do you know what is the protein content of that All flock? Orschelns is a lot closer....we have one in our closest town of Lamar.

The last bag I got was get Nutrena 18% All Flock. I've not tried it yet, been using Country Lane which I think is an Orschelns brand.

We took the 'off' bag of Purina Flock Raiser back to TSC in Pittsburg, KS, and told them the story. The manager was very interested in trying to figure out what happened. I brought little baggies w samples of each batch to show it's obvious it is not the same product. He said their Purina comes from St. Joseph. Thus the STJ on the bag tape. The new bag I got in Carthage says SGF. That must be Springfield.
I did not yet hear back from Purina, so I hope this manager gets someone to look into it. They may need to do a recall. In the meantime I will avoid any STJ coded bags.

Just bought some Country Lane all flock, not open yet. I'm not happy with the Dumor as so much of it is just powder. Orschelns has bigger and cheaper bags of grit and oyster shell than TSC. My cat likes their food and their kitty litter isn't as dusty as most. The closest is up in Kearny so I make the trip now and then and stock up.

Tree pollen allergies have hit me today. A 4 day weekend for me and woke up with a sinus headache. I guess that means spring. Warmer weather is coming.

I took advantage of the warm up and moved the chicks to their apartment in the coop. They were thrilled w the larger space. The adults were dismayed, they came in one by one and stared at the chicks.....none had anything good to say. Except Carl the rooster, who made happy little tidbitting sounds. The chicks greeted them all with friendly interest. It got down to 44 last night. They did fine out there.

This morning we are going to get more feed. I bought a bag of Purina Flock raiser at TSC in Pittsburg, KS, and tho all my chickens of all ages have loved this feed, they are all balking at eating it, both adults and chicks. It is dated Feb 6, so it's not old, but this batch is a darker color. I'll return it and get more at a different store, different batch, different town.

're the feed issue, I did hear from Purina. They sent a report to the St. Joe plant. Hopefully if something is amiss there, in mixing, packing, etc, those responsible won't be doing it again. Purina only said each plant sources their own ingredients so it can vary.
All is well, no harm done, they're forgiven.

Rain!!! Slow light rain!! We need it so badly. That Tonganoxie split has sent it all north or south of us. Was out trying to work on my raised beds yesterday and the ground was so dry, I couldn't even pull out creeping Charlie to toss in the coop. course that crud starts growing before anything else is green.. At least the chickens like it.

We just started getting some sprinkles here a few minutes ago. They are calling for rain and possible thunderstorms tonight.
