calling any one from missouri

Where there is a pip there is a peep!

How long does it take for them to break out of the round prison?

Any of the other eggs doing any pecking?

JT
That egg hatched half an hour later. It can take hours and hours. I haven't glimpsed anything happening w the others, but I don't get to see much. Here's the first blurry pic of hatchling #1

They have such beautiful feathers! I hope the rest hatch soon. Is she staying on the nest now?

JT
I have put a mesh screen in front so she can't leave. She's still in w the flock, and I don't trust the big hens not to hurt the chicks. This nest is 24" wide, so there is room to move around, I'll add food and water tomorrow, it will be a mini brooder for a couple days until the hatch is complete.

Are yours Appenzeller Spitzhauben (pointed hood) chicken, originated in Switzerland and is their national bird? Just looking on cacklehatchery.com...

JT
Yes, the chicks are. (Hen that hatched them is a silver Sebright.) I got 5 Spitzhauben chicks in spring of 2018, drove up to Cackle. 3 were boys, sold 2. I had the trio left, one hen disappeared in April. I sold the pair because the rooster had aggressive tendencies. The Amish lady didn't mind, she wanted them anyway. I saved 4 of the eggs to hatch.
Here's the pair I sold her, the parents of these chicks:
