Will ducks try to break into those tom cat bait traps for mice?

We have 5 cattle dogs a Jack Russell/border collie mix and a border collie/walker coon hound mix. The JR mix loves to dig up moles, voles and mice. We trade mole and vole runs for ankle busting pot holes in our fields but she sure is tough on those varmints.

I wish I could remember where I read that article. Wasn't a book. Seemed to be a magazine article close as I can remember.

I doubt the ducks could get into one of those but I don't know how that could work for moles.

Our current digger tearing up the place is moles.
I used to have a dog that would dig them up and kill them.
Now I have the ducks. . so I'm afraid to use the poison worms. I've got my grandpas mole traps. . I suppose I could set them and put buckets over them to keep the birds out. Suppose that would work?

If I were you I’d buy an old post office, grocery store, or grade school... kick out all the mice, spiders and owls and then turn it in to “Casa Shaw’land” and let the moles work the old place into ruble

Btw, my best ever mole dog was a miniature collie/ beagle mix ... he was terrier like in his mole pursuits and got fat as a loaner ( mole hit dog).... I’m getting teary eyed think about all my old dogs suddenly

yeah.. I do that sometimes too. My mole killin dog was a terrier/lab mix.
She was the weirdest looking thing but one hell of a varmint killer.

One time I went outside in the morning and there was a opossum hanging on the chain link fence. I'm thinking what the what? Thought I had me a case of deviant pranksters or something.
Later that night . .my drunk neighbor stopped by to tell me the whole story of how the dog managed to gut a opossum on the fence.
Apparently she had it by the butt end and yanked it down as it tried to get away.

Our tomatoes look bad and so does the cucumbers, the tomatoes I have in pots and bring in at night look real good.

My dogwood went straight to brown.

I checked my green beans today thinking that I was going to pull the up, but instead I walked away with a half pound of green beans! There may be more but it was too dark to see and I have no idea what happened to the good flashlight I use all the time.
Well, that's not exactly true. I think I left it on the back of my car last night and then drove off this morning and it fell off somewhere.

I almost forgot to take a photo of my annual Jack O'Lantern mushroom... it's the only color I get lol. I should have taken a photo a few days ago when it was still growing and much bigger.
