Daily watering brought this big surprise plant, what it is called we don't know. We have seen them flowering elsewhere. Is it from a bulb? How did it get here?? Looks like maybe a canna lily?

they grow from bulbs ... but need to be lifted over winter in our area ... so maybe not?

have you put any of the nastrum leaves or blooms on your salads?

canna gnomes .... they are particularly bad in leap years 😉

I'm jealous of your nastrums... I forgot to plant them this year, but had a few volunteers come up... but the kittens ‘rough housed’ on them and now they’re gone 🙄

Right, ours were about to suffer that same plight, so I put little fences around each group. I took down the fences just today, so I can weed eat around them. Carefully weed eat.

And we do have gnomes here....I've seen them down by the crick. As well as elves, fairies and leprechauns....

I think mothballs will get rid of the leprechauns and fairies, but you’ll need this spray for the gnomes....

you pretty much hafta trap the elves though... I’ve heard a set of car keys makes good bait 😉

I like to have a few of these critters around though, even if they do hide things on me from time to time 🙃

I can tolerate a few of the others, but NOT trolls.

We had trolls so bad in 2017 the mail lady wouldn’t stop anymore... and we’re pretty sure they made one of the trash pick up guys disappear...

My folklore book said you had to either challenge the head troll to a rock eating contest and if you won they’d all leave... or ring bells a lot because trolls don’t like the sound ...

I just rang bells a lot and eventually the trolls left and the mail lady came back... and the trash pickup people just hired a new guy... so I guess it all worked out 😉
