calling any one from missouri

Went to Akers but all I saw was the ferry on the other side and a bunch of rednecks lounging in the river so I wonder if there is a secret way to get the ferry to your side of the river?

just saw this post...

on this side of the river there was a sign that said to honk the horn for service...

I think on your side the procedure is to chuck a rock at a redneck and once you get their attention, tell them to send the ferry over... but honking the horn might work too 😉

I was hoping you might see this post and shed some light on the mystery.

We did get to visit Alley Springs mill and got a waffle cone at the Dairy Shack so all was not lost.

We were in that area on Friday... saw some sites including Rocky Falls and Klepzig mill...

we drove by the Dairy Shack but it was infested with people again, so we didn’t stop

So, since we aren't eating the okra anymore, due to me getting OD'd on slime, my DD picked an okra blossom and put it in water as a decoration on the table. After it closed up, she pulled it out, and there was a long string of slime, long long slimy trail....just from a blossom!

I don’t have texture issues with food... other than cottage cheese... but I know a lot of folks don’t like okra because of the texture...

from memory, I think if you’re making ‘smothered okra’ there is a cook time or temperature that breaks down the slime starches and makes it much less slimy... you can ask Mrs. Google about that if interested... but my mom told me something about that once

we’ve been freezing most of what we get for soups and stuff in the winter ... gumbo and such 😋

But we also slice it, toss it in some oil, season it’s bit, and then spread on a cookie sheet and bake till slightly brown... it’s far less slimy that way... at least I think so, but still pretty healthy

But I know a lot of people just don’t like it at all, or get their fill pretty quick, so maybe that’s how you are and none of that is of interest, lol

in that case you’ll just have to feed it to the chickens I guess!

The chickens won't eat it!
Many many times we enjoyed it sauteed in olive oil either sliced, whole or halved, I added it to stir fries, fritters, omelets, soups, even to refried beans. (We didn't bake it because I don't like using oven in hot weather.) I just stopped enjoying it all of a sudden, I guess I ate too much. DH still picks small ones and eats them raw!

I gave up on ‘don’t use the oven in summer’... my wife’s ability to understand those words individually is top notch...

but string them together and some how she hears ‘since it’s 90 degrees we should bake a cake’ 🙄

Yeah our chickens will eat the seeds if I split them, but I think that’s about it... but I throw stuff like that I’m not sure if they'll eat in their coop for them to peck at and compost anyway sometimes...carrot peals is another thing they peck at but mostly just becomes litter.... sorta the deep litter method
