Well I put the pullets back outside with their flock. They seem pretty pleased about it.
They have new leg bands and Margarita got her crest trimmed.

Previously, Margarita's vision was obscurred by her floofy crest. We could have cut even more!

Below is Nadine, who was not brought into the house. My abominable chicken, undaunted by below zero temps. I put shavings on the snow to encourage them to come out. Spitzhaubens originated in Switzerland, so are a cold hardy breed.

Wild birds eating chicken feed that I sprinkled on the snow---most flew away when I got
this close, there were dozens.

Pretty sure it’s a fox sparrow... or maybe an ovenbird ... I get all the LBJs (little brown jobbers) confused

edit: okay not an ovenbird... they’re not here this time of year
