Our neighbor concurred with our final rainfall tally, 8” here! More coming today and tomorrow. But lots of sunshine in between rainstorms. And it hasn’t hurt the mulberries at all!

Bambi ALMOST ate an apple from my hand... she was so close but would not come the last couple of feet.

Finally organized a bowl to use for her food so I can medicate her without the rabbits getting into it.

Yesterday evening, in one short rainstorm we got almost an inch of rain.
btw, we discovered that this rain gauge measures in 8ths, not tenths. we’ve been saying tenths all along.

So 11 days ago I found an unwanted visitor in the coop. First time this year, but not first time ever.

We rehomed him to the way back of the property & have been vigilantly watching for his return.

Well, I’m sad to say he came back last night. We’ve always just relocated him. He’s only stolen eggs before, but he has officially crossed the line…this time he killed one of my babies. His days are now numbered.

Note, he went through 1x2” hardware to get in the coop.

And, while I’m whining I might as well add that Rusty the rooster has passed on. He was 9mos. A few weeks ago I noticed he was acting a little weird. By the time I could catch him to check him out last week he was all bones (couldn’t tell because of all his pretty feathers) & completely blind (eyes looked completely normal). I tried to save him…it didn’t work.

Plus I have a hen that turned up gimpy 2 days ago. She must have landed wrong coming off a perch. I can’t really find anything wrong with her & she’s eating well. I guess time will tell.
