Dresses can be quite comfy if made right. And the layers you can put on under them! I've ridden horseback in them, and not side saddle either. Younger days.

Yeah they can be.
But I wouldn't want to be walking around in the sticks in a dress I would get snagged or step on it and trip.

I am reading that it was a 4.0, SEMO near Poplar Bluff. The New Madrid fault. Was there any damage? What are they saying on your local news?

I think Williamsville is about 20 miles from us, in Wayne County. We're in Carter, right next to it. No reports of damage as far as I've heard. I thought at first we were hearing something like a rolling thunder. Then I thought it sounded like a big rig, like the trash truck, driving around the house. But it comes on Tuesday morning and doesn't go around the house. Our bedroom is in the basement; we were watching TV. I looked at TheMan, and just then the bed jerked. The cat sleeping between us jumped up, startled, and looked around. One of the dogs was pacing nervously. TheMan said to me, "Earthquake?" as the rumbling stopped, and I said, "I reckon!"

About ten minutes later my GirlChild called from Poplar Bluff where she was visiting friends, a bit hysterical, wondering if we'd felt it.
