The Town of Carterville, north of Joplin, still has their Christmas lights up. We drove down the street and said, look their lights are birds? And chickens! Then realized they are the 12 days of Christmas song. This is the ‘6 geese a laying’ one….
My husband installed a new, extra large mailbox today. Amazon has started routing pretty much all packages via USPS. I felt so bad that our mailman had to come up to the house so often.
Yesterday our chicken feeders were buzzing w honey bees! On a bee-related thread, bee experts said hungry bees are looking for protein, not to worry, they’ll go on their way when the pollen arrives. They didn’t seem to hurt the chickens, who ate anyway, so I just let them bee….
I've been fighting with small birds eating the chicken feed and pooping all over the run for a few months now. I've tried all kind of things like putting a T shirt on a hanger by the door and it worked too well... the chickens would not come near it.
This seems to work I don't find bird evidence any more.
They say we will get a dusting of snow up to 1”. It looks like the worst is south of us. @1cock2hens how is the weather down there? And how are your critters doing? Any baby goats yet?
I was thinking of putting out a garden hose down in the chicken yard until I saw the dip in temps coming tonight... going to be a messy day here with rain/sleet/snow.
