Hi there! Living in Springfield, have a total of 5 grown kids, and one 15 year old boy, 4 small dogs, 2 cats, and 8 hens with 1 rooster. And my mom in law lives across the street!
We garden together, share veggies and eggs with our neighbors, and would like to start selling our "surplus" eggs to anyone interested in eating something fresh and healthy, (not to mention, delicious)! Any suggestions on prices? I don't believe I should sell them at store cost, but does a buck a dozen sound reasonable? I have to offset the price of feed, eventually.
Other than that, if you live in Springfield, feel free to send a hello my way.
Glad to be in Missouri.. Not a native, but have lived in this state longer than all the others I've lived in, combined, which is somewhere in the 25 year range, I guess. And yes, I live in a regular neighborhood, in the northside of town, and raise chickens! haha! BYC has taught me so much! I guess I'm a kind of rebellious sort. I got tired of buying those yucky tasteless eggs in the store, and decided to raise my own. Well, I don't do it all on my own.. I have a wonderful hubby, who can fix practically anything, and is willing to put up with my crazy whims! HE'S the one who's done most of the "dirty work".. i.e. build nesting boxes, the roosting area in the "chicken shed", etc.. etc... I wouldn't have been able to have chickens, w/o him. But, he loves the results of our efforts, that's for sure..
And I'm rambling! lol! Gee, all I wanted to do was say hi! >.<
