Thanks to Ruthless we now have 7 bantam phoenix chicks. Super nice and knowledgable guy we bought them from and apparently the birds are from a good blood line. Took us 4 hours round trip but well worth it for my son. Parents were gorgeous birds. Gotta love Craigslist.

Now keep your eyes out for some silkie chicks or eggs. My middle son wants the ugly(I say that with love) kind. Not the white ones but the ones that look like they have been rolling in dirt. Any colors other than white is what he wants.

The lady that I purchased the silkie eggs from(in Florida) offered to send more for only the cost of shipping. But I am going to wait and see if my bator is working before putting more money in.

Chicken people have got to be the kindest,most knowledgeable people.

It has been a while since I have checked in. Welcome to all new comers to the thread, you will meet some very good people here.

The colder weather has started more laying it seems. I do know I have a few of the younger girls starting to lay now.

A stray rooster from my neighbors house decided he would move into the duck house because it is the only run that is not covered and it had been so darn cold!
This guy is in there everyday when I go out to feed and the 2 ducks dont seem to mind. My drake has always gone after any of the chickens when they even get too close to his pen where his girl is.

Merry Christmas to all my Missouri friends!!!! Have a wonderful holiday weekend and stay safe in this nasty weather we're getting!!

I woke up to sleet turning to snow within the hour... But at work there is nothing but water... Go figure. I guess the lake plays a big part in the weather patterns here. Just hope it's not icy on the way home since my 4-wheel drive car is in the shop thanks to my DH... Nice timing, huh?
