Those two chicks are definitely not marans. Marans have single combs. These chicks look like they have rose combs. Wyandottes, like my BLR wyandotte, are probably the most common rosecomb breed in farm stores but there are several other breeds that have rosecombs.

Comb type does not change or develop, combs just get bigger and more defined as they grow.

These are single combed day old chicks.
