Bear advice:
1. Store all food in a bear bag or can. Some places require that you hang it and provide a pully system for you to do so. I use a Urasac.
2. Cook and eat away from where you sleep. Smells from your cooking and little bits dropped not only attract bears but other critters as well.
3. Don't store your trash or left overs in camp. Stuff it in the bear can or bag
4. Don't wear the same clothes you cooked or ate in to bed. I sleep in a hammock/tent. All I think of is being a giant burito!!
5. Make sure the kids don't sneak any midnight snacks into their sleeping area.
6. Don't store food, snacks, trash in your car in bear country. That stuff you see on TV about a bear breaking into cars is TRUE!! They can pop the back of a mini van is seconds!
7. Even though a bear seems friendly, do not approach, feed, etc... Remember these are wild animal who have no fear of humans and can EAT you
