Is it okay to give chick scratch (dried corn) to 5 week old chicks occasionally as long as there is some grit available?

Since I never figured out how to keep even one week old chicks from getting scratch when momma did... yeah it works as long as the chick has access to grit.

me too . . . they run right behind the big girls picking at the left overs. I don't give them free handouts of it though.

Thanks you guys. I think the feed store sold me regular grit as chick grit. It seems the same size as the stuff I give my big girls. Think I'll try a different feed store.

One thing to remember about scratch/cracked corn and the like. In the warmer weather, it will make the girls a little hotter. Which is why it is great in the winter...use it as a snack sort of thing now with them.
