Can a chicken be a house pet?

Mine normally have a routine of laying eggs in the morning. They also on occasion lay one in their diaper, which I just take out.... They often like to jump up on the couch, snuggle by my feet and lay their egg in the diaper. It's so funny cause they look like they have baggy drawers.
