can a rooster get frostbite on their comb ?

I've noticed today that 2 of my roosters head (comb) color is different, like dark purplish. Now that does mean a frostbite ? Out here in NJ, it's pretty cold, at nights it can get down to 10's degrees. They have 7x7 chicken shed with 2 big heated lights. We are in the process of building them a new coop at a different location in our backyard. But in the meanwhile, do you think their cold ?

I had several roosters before with frostbite. It doesn't hurt them bad, the comb tip just falls right off.

Yes, their combs can and will get frostbite. You can put vaseline on

their combs to prevent this in the future. It can cause some problems in bad cases,

but most of the time its only the tip of the comb that falls off.

Most of the time the cause is not just the cold, it's humid cold are.
