Out of all the chicks I have hatched out of my rooster (8) only one has turned out to be a rooster. Do my roosters genetics produce hens? Or am I lucky?

Ok. Each chick has a different mom are they all the same?Female chickens carry the gene for sex determination (I think the same is true for most, if not all, birds). You're just lucky.
OkLucky, out of 5 iv'e hatched this year 3 are roosters and all 3 boys from the same hen. I think the hen is behind what gets baked not the roo. Iv'e got a doodle factory.![]()

He came from a hatchery. I ordered 4 buff Brahama bantams. 3 were roosters an one was a hen. Does that make a difference?Definite luck, or your girls just lean towards more hens. Did your one roo come from a hen that produced hens too? Scenerio here, three hens were bred. One egg from 2 seprerate hens both hatched as hens. 3 eggs from another hen all roos "ok, one im 90% sure is a roo other two are soild dudes.![]()
