thanks sorry just started all this

Oh poor things - I HATE seeing the clipped beaks. I'm glad they're in a better place now. As for age.....

Two possibilities I see, since their combs are not that big or not that red are that they are either youngsters, not yet ready to lay - maybe 18-20 weeks - or they are older hens who are pretty much past laying. I'll be interested to hear other opinions though....

I'll guess younger rather than older. Older hens sometimes have the beginnings of spur bumps and I don't see any on these girls... If they're not laying yet then I would say they're in the 18-20 week range? Usually that is how old pullets are when they're sold as "started".

Where did you get them? How long have you had them? Any eggs yet?

got them from a shop that sells farm supplies just moved to spain so my spanish is not great so could not find out much about them

Poor things. I was wondering why their beaks looked weird. I din't realized people "clipped" them. How mean! I'm assuming they do it to keep them from pecking at eachother?? I would never do that. I have 6 chickens and they sometimes peck at each other, but not often.

i got them just over 2 weeks ago and was told to go to that particular shop so i am assuming (and hoping!) that they are younger. No eggs yet.

I would say younger also. There comb and wattles don't look that red or large to have started laying yet. Maybe around 18-25 weeks old?

This is my guess too. Small combs and waddles. Pullets.

This is good news.

I dont like the beak clipping either. Most hatcheries do this to any chicks they plan on selling as starter pullets. I have a Amish neighbor who raises chicks for a hatchery and all their beaks are done too.
