Can Anyone Tell Me What This Guy Is?

We took this guy in a few months ago from a friend of a friend. We were told he was used for fighting

so we were very happy to be able to rescue him from that life. I haven't been able to pin down what breed he is. Can anyone help me with that? Thank you so much and Many Blessings!
