Hello,

I got some grasshoppers that are very tiny.
Could my baby quail eat them?

Many thanks,

Quail kid

Yum, grasshoppers! Yes, quail babies love the taste of grasshoppers (one of their favorites)... just drop one (after you squished it a little, so it just twiches) in front of one, repeat if necessary until it picks it up.

Yep, some people actually pull the hopper's back legs off so they can't get away. You might need some type of grit, but if you give them sand for dust bathing they should have plenty.

ofcourse! as long as they aren't poisonous spoil them all you'd like!

Hi,

I wouldn't recommed you feed your quail with and wild live food, only captive bred crickets or mealworms, the reason being, they could pick up anything from wild caught insects like worm eggs.

Ironsun.

Who told you that? ..
they don't know their bugs very well.

Your birds don't get worms from eating "wild" crickets. In fact, "wild" crickets ARE humanly consumable.

However, if the crickets are covered with mud, just wash them off first.

I get a sick little kick out of dumping a big of pin head crickets into the brooder and watch some of the funniest quail TV ever

Gamebirds+grasshoppers= Game On!

Thats Some High Quality Entertainment Right There--- I Dont Care Who You Are!
