can chickens eat bananas

wow...thanks for this good info.....i have some mashed bananas to feed them...maybe mix it in with oatmeal...new at all of this..feel like a new mama all over agian...lol

I haven't really found anything that my chickens don't like. We give them most of our kitchen scraps and now when they see me coming with the scrap container they come running. We eat pretty healthy and fresh so I don't have to worry too much about what goes into our scrap container. Whatever they don't eat goes to the worms.

Their favorites I've noticed are bananas and avocados. Ours will eat tomatoes but they don't seem to go crazy for them. Now my new tomato plants are another story. I have to watch them like a hawk when they are in the garden. The plants are 3-4in tall and they've already destroyed 3 of them in a matter of seconds!

I gave the chickens and ducks bananas for the first time today. At first they didn't seem interested, but it wasn't long before I checked the pen again and the bananas were almost all gone. I did think it was a little strange when I saw a duck pick up a slice of banana, carry it over to the water, wash it, then eat it.

They can eat bananas but not the peels. My chicken, pat (hence the username pat the chicken),loves bananas. I guess you could say she's bananas for bananas!!

Chickens tend to eat pretty much anything you would present them! If you are a chicken owner, you most certainly are already aware of the fact that they are not picky eaters. Can chickens eat bananas? Yes, they can and they most certainly enjoy it!
However, everything should be in moderation as bananas has high sugar content that is detrimental to your chickens.
