can ducklings use a heat plate?

Can ducklings use a heat plate instead of a heat lamp? I'm getting my first ducks this week and I would love to use what I already have on hand.

Yes they can. I used one successfully last year. I liked that it was less of a fire risk.

Awesome, thank you! I hate the idea of heat lamps as well, I've always used the plates for my chickens. I'm glad it will work for the ducks as well. I should probably get the brooder set up

Almost always use brooder plates with mine.

I ran out of heat sources (yes I needed many) so I gave my goslings a seedling starter mat. Easy to clean and will not burn down the garage down (always a plus). They no longer need it. Sadly, however, they are still in the garage. Maybe some day it will stop snowing and I can put them outside...

We need some more global warming to stop the snow. We have always used a heat pad and never lost one while brooding. I feel safer with it than a light.
