I started walking due to having heart complications and 3 stents. Both my doctor and cardiologist said to exercise at least 150 minutes a week. I do water aerobics for an hour, 3 times a week and walk the other 4 days. And yes I pee in the pool, as I'm sure others do too cuz I never see anyone getting out during pool time. I can't go much further than 2 miles as I have to pee. I have 2 cups of half-calf every morning, which contributes to the urge to pee. I wonder if I should get some "Depends". And getting "steps in the yard" do not count. What say you?

I feel like steps are steps but idk. For me, our yard is decent sized but not huge so I’d be doing laps around it. Like intentionally walking just for that. Idk about regular yard work etc. rather than intentionally walking but I’d think it still counts. Steps are still steps. For me, I HAVE to stick to the yard right now with being sick so I was gonna try to get at least SOME exercise today instead of none and sleeping all day LOL
 
I think steps are steps, no matter how or where you get them, in the same way that swimming laps in a pool is just as much effort as swimming across a lake. The key is the effort and activity. Parking at the end of the lot and walking further to get into the grocery store counts, as does walking up a few flights of stairs at work instead of taking the elevator. The body keeps the score of the effort.

There was a landmark study (the London Busmen Study) of fitness and coronary heart disease (CHD) in the UK looking at conductors and drivers at the London Transport Executive. Drivers are mostly sedentary as they sit and drive, while conductors are active walking back and forth in their train cars or buses. Not surprisingly, conductors had a significantly lower risk of CHD, and less severe symptoms when they did have issues, than drivers who were much less physically active at work. It didn't matter that the activity was in a confined space, just that they were active and moving.
