Can ducks go swimming in the freezing winter?

Hi runamuck, know you from somewhere else..

ducks and geese love their daily baths.. I have a mortor mix tub that I use for them to wash up in..

one day it was minus 20 F. and i filled th pool. the first goose jumped in and started to do her thing.. the water beaded up on her back and froze instantly and rolled off like tiny marbles..

One other day a large flock of wild geese landed in the neighbors tiny pond.. during the night the pond froze over with the geese in it.. the next morning the whole flock took of together and took the pond with them..

one of these stories is not true..
can you guess??

I have to scoop the ice chunks out of my kiddie pool every day. I put in an air stone with an aquarium air pump attached. It keeps most of the pool unfrozen for now as it's been hanging around the lowe teens at night.

I have the single small stone but I'm thinking of doing one of these:

You still have to scoop poo ice but it doesn't go all the way solid.

My garage has not been for cars for yrs I keep the rabbits and at night the lil goats get to sleep in a stall I have put in there. The ducks when in there have Half the garage that is fenced off for such a purpose ( I brood young birds in there in early spring too before the thaw) its covered with pine bedding and straw and I just clean it all out after they have been it there it is ususally around 3 or 4 times a winter that it gets too cold for me to handle it lol. I know its cold on the nights they stand outside the door asking to go in

aww!..if i had a garage..i know i'd be using it also!...lol..i just cant help feeling bad about leaving them out in this freeziing weather...they do have a house to go in..but still.....i was going to clean out my basement and bring them down there....i still may..well see how the winter progresses..

The other night my poor husband and myself had to get in a rowboat while it was snowing to chase our pair of mandarin ducks out of the pond to get them in the coop. They would have stayed in the pond all night if they could. It doesn't bother them one bit.
