can geese and ducks

I think it depends on how you define "duck" and "goose." For example, everything I've read has said that "egyptian geese" are really more closely related to shelducks (or sometimes "sheldrakes") than true geese. Shelducks are intermediate between ducks and geese, and I'd think that a hybrid "duck/goose" might be more likely if it involved a member from this group. I haven't found an article describing a particular instance of Duck X Goose, but I did about Swan X Goose....do I get partial credit for that?
