I too was talking about not a full carton, it's like giving a kid some medicine, if it tastes nice the kid will take it willingly, if it tastes horrid it won't.

I'm afraid I did. Oops.LOL Col, you stirred something up!
I would not add vitamins/electrolytes to the mixed antibiotic water.
You can do as suggested and add those to a little yogurt or use the vitamin water to make a wet mash out of her feed.
fyi for chickens, I am not talking about a whole cup full of yogurt. Depending on size/age 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon daily is good.
Sick birds often go off feed, so if yogurt, egg, meat, a few berries, etc. entice them to eat then that's good. Always make their normal feed available as well.
She is still alive. She apparently has an abscess in her upper respiratory area. Vet says it is Mycoplasma Gallisepticum. I've been getting white/yellow chunks out of both eyes and in the roof of her mouth. She has been sick for about 3 months. She still eats when prompted as she can't see her food because of the abscess/swelling. She is a pet. So I hate to cull her when she is still eating and drinking. Any thoughts?LOL
Is she o.k.? If she is, then all is well![]()

Yes... horrible odor. She has been on a round of Lincomycin, then Baytril, then Tylan. Currently not taking any antibiotics. I cleaned her eyes & mouth this morning. So tomorrow I will post some pics of what she looks like and what I fish out of her.If you can post some photos of her along with what you are seeing inside the beak, that would be good.
Does she have a bad odor?
Did the vet give you any antibiotics?

Thanks for your interest. It's frustrating not really knowing what to try next.

Just a regular vet... closest avian vet is over 2 hours away unfortunately.I'm sorry!
It's really hard to know sometimes, but having a horrible odor she may have Infectious Coryza or you may even be dealing with multiple things. Sometimes there can be more than one respiratory illness or it could be you have canker with respiratory illness.
Is you vet and avian vet?
Did they by any chance perform testing to find out what she has?
Look forward to your photos.
Thanks for the info. I will see if my local vet has the sulfa drugs first. She has a program with the local University where they are trying to gather more experience with fowl.Oh dear!
She has a really bad infection. Can you visit the Avian Vet?
This is probably Infectious Coryza since there is a really bad odor.
A sulfa drug would be needed to treat her - sulfadimethoxine or SMZ-TMP. Use one of these in conjunction with your Tylan50.
The pus in the eye needs to come out in order for her to start healing. Flush with saline, press as much pus as you can out of the eye. Then apply Terramycin eye ointment in the eye. The ointment can be applied up to 3 times a day. Do the best you can to remove the pus a few times a day too.
Keep her hydrated like you've been doing. Wet chick starter may be easy to get into her.
I don't know how much you know about respiratory diseases, but they are contagious and make birds carriers of the disease even if they recover.
There are other videos on youtube, but this one is fairly mild - please keep me posted.
