Can I eat my dead Cornish rock?

I will eat my meat chickens if I happen to catch them on their way out but not if I don't know how long they have been laying there. The problem being with the heat we all have been having, you really don't know how long they have laid there. As my mother also said, "When in doubt throw it out."

Not saying the OP should eat this bird, but a good brine soak will get the blood out of a dead bird. I do it with ducks, pheasants, turkeys etc. Soak the carcass for 24 to 48 hours in the frig. Change the water often.

Yes as I do but I prefer to leave the chickens be LOL. I regularly Brine and bleed everything Killed while hunting, and have let shot turkeys hang in a tree for 3 days before readying it for the camp table. My chickens I just watch closer is all.

Now I'm concerned...we had one die right in front of us on Wednesday @ 4 weeks old. I processed it, and everything looked fine, and I was going to eat it since we knew exactly how long it was dead and were able to bleed it out. Now I feel like I shouldn't?

If you saw it die and you processed it right away you should be all set - really doesn't matter if it had a heart attack or died from a genetic condition that didn't allow it to live to a ripe old age - the meat will be fine IMHO if you processed it right away - enjoy your dinner!!

The original poster posed a different question finding a bird that had passed.
